It was the initiative of European Union along with Chambers of Commerce of Slovania, Romania, Italy, Pakistan & Nepal. The idea was to bring together these under one roof to discuss possiblilties of joint business ventures etc. Around 30 local ICT companies in the form of a delegation went to Kathmandu along with KCCI for the event. NEP-AL IT which stands for Nepal Europe Pakistan Alliance on IT was the theme of the event where matchmaking sessions between different SMEs from these 5 chambers took place. It was a successful event where some of our local ICT SMEs were able to sign MoUs of joint ventures etc. Upon returning there were sessions held at KCCI with the representatives of the EU delegation of post-event follow up activities. It is in those sessions that a need was realized to form an entity that could serve the commercial interests of SMEs as there was availability of sufficient funds in EU for research projects in various domains of ICT.
